Senegal and Mali qualify for U-20 AFCON final

The final of this year’s U-20 AFCON is set for Sunday at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché

Senegal and Mali will contest the final match of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Niger on Sunday.

The Malians defeated Nigeria 4-3 on penalties after the game finish 1-1 in regulation time. Mamadou Traore gave Mali the lead in the 78th minute before the Flying Eagles levelled the scores through Paschal Durugbor three minutes to the end of the match.

Nigeria missed two kicks in the shootout before Mali’s El Bilal Toure converted the final kick to send the Young Eagles through.

In the other semi final, Young Lions of Teranga booked their place in their third straight U-20 AFCON final.

Senegal beat South Africa 1-0 courtesy of a second half own goal from Givemore Khupe.

The final of this year’s U-20 AFCON is set for Sunday at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché, the third place game between Nigeria and South Africa holds on Saturday at the same venue.
