Senegal moves to the top of the Group C table after a glorious 3-0 win against fourth-place Gambia. The West African country has become a major contender in African tournaments in recent times with global stars like Sadio Mane, Kalidou Koulibaly, Abdou Diallo, and Nampalys Mendy.
The first goal came in the 4th minute of the game from Pape Gueye with a clever assist from Sadio Mane. In added time of the first half, Gambian midfielder and Cardiff City player was handed a red card for a foul tackle.
Lamine Camara proceeded to make it 3-0 after scoring a brace in the 52nd and 86th minute of the game. This win has undoubtedly marked the reigning champions as ones to watch at this year’s AFCON.
With more games left to be played, this is a good start for the Senegal national football team nicknamed Les Lions de la Teranga. The next fixture for Group C is Cameroon vs Guinea at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium on January 15, 2024
