The Senegalese football association have confirmed friendlies for the Taranga Lions against Morocco and Mauritania.
Senegal, Africa’s top ranked team (20th on FIFA’s world ranking) and runner-up at last year’s African Cup of Nations in Egypt, will face Morocco’s Atlas Lions in Rabat on 9 October, before welcoming neighbours Mauritania in Thies four day later – 13 October.
Both matches will be played behind closed doors due to Covid-19 precautions, and will serve as tune up for Senegal ahead of the AFCON 2021 qualifier in November against Guinea-Bissau who are ranked 31 on the continent.
Senegal are placed in group I and lead with 6 points having recorded wins against Congo (2-0) and Eswatini (4-1) in November 2019.
Morocco – ranked 5th in Africa, lead group E but are tied on points (4) with second-placed Mauritania and ahead of Central African Republic and Burundi.
The North African side drew goalless with Mauritania but defeated Burundi 3-0 in the first two qualifiers played last year.
