Senegal’s Teungueth FC Dump Raja Casablanca Out of CAF Champions League

Senegal Premier League side, Teungueth FC dumped Raja Casablanca out of the CAF Champions League on Tuesday.

Raja, Morocco’s Botola champions and semi-finalists in the 2019/20 edition of the competition lost on penalties to the Senegalese side after both sides played a scoreless stalemate over both legs.

In Casablanca on Tuesday, CAF insisted on both sides playing the game out despite a water logged pitch that made playing extremely difficult.

Despite pleas by both teams to stop the game, organisers insisted it has to end, citing challenges faced by Teungueth before getting to Morocco as reason for the refusal to postpone the game.

The Senegalese champions won 3-1 on penalties and have posted various videos of celebration on social media, after defeating one of Africa’s best football clubs.

As it stands in the CAF Champions League, some of Africa’s most glamorous football clubs have made it to the group stage with Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly already booking their places. Others who have made it to the next round are Tanzania’s Namungo FC, Coton Sport of Cameroon, Algeria’s JS Kabylie, Congo’s DCMP, Pyramids and Zamalek, both of Egypt.

Nigeria’s Enyimba hope to overcome a 3-0 deficit against Sudan’s Al Merreikh as they slug it out in Aba.
