Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton has spoken out against Israel’s ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip, which have persisted for nearly eight months and claimed the lives of over 36,000 Palestinians.
“Enough is enough. We cannot continue to watch this tragedy unfold and not speak up. The trauma and terror so many, but particularly innocent children, are experiencing is horrifying. This must stop – for the children, for their families, and for their lives,” the 39-year-old Mercedes driver penned in an Instagram story yesterday.
Lewis Hamilton also shared a poignant video depicting the plight of children residing in Rafah, the southern Gaza city invaded by Israel, despite an International Court of Justice ruling against such action. A recent air strike on a displacement camp in Rafah resulted in the deaths of at least 45 Palestinians and sparked fires that rapidly consumed makeshift shelters.
Since October 7, Israel has maintained its aggressive offensive in the Gaza Strip, claiming the lives of over 36,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and leaving vast areas of Gaza in ruins amidst a devastating blockade restricting access to essential resources like food, clean water, and medicine.
The incursion into Rafah, launched in early May, has forced one million residents to flee the city, according to the United Nations.
