Shawn Barber has reportedly passed on at age 29. The star Olympian athlete passed away due to medical complications.
Although the actual cause of his death is yet to be made known, reports remain that he died after experiencing health issues.
The young pole vaulter passed on at his home in Kingwood, Texas, on January 17, 2024.
Barber’s agent, Paul Doyle speaking with The Associated Press on January 18, 2024, said; “More than just an incredible athlete, Shawn was such a good-hearted person that always put others ahead of himself…it’s tragic to lose such a good person at such a young age.”
In 2015, Barber became the world champion for pole vaulting with a height of 5.90 meters.
In the same year, he was crowned a Pan American Games champion and went on to compete at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Howbeit, he was met with several difficulties during his short career. In 2018, he suffered ankle injuries which led to him taking a break from competing in 2019.
