Sheppard and Zwane Appointed As Kaizer Chiefs Assistant Coaches

South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Kaizer Chiefs have appointed former Bafana Bafana internationals Dillon Sheppard and Arthur Zwane as their new assistant coaches for the new season.

The Soweto giants let go of their technical staff following their disappointing title chase last season with Ernst Middendorp and his assistant Shaun Bartlett shown the exit.

Chiefs announced the appointment of Sheppard and Zwane on Twitter.

“It’s official! Zwane and Sheppard named as assistant coaches.”

“We would like to announce the appointment of Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard as Gavin Hunt’s assistants.”

The new season will see the Chiefs have new faces on their technical bench with former Bidvset Wits coach Gavin Hunt appointed as the new man at the helm, assisted by Sheppard and Zwane.

Sheppard worked with Hunt as a player and assistant coach at Bidvest Wits, while Zwane mentored Chiefs’ development side in the reserve league.

Amakhosi got close to ending their trophy drought last season as they let the league title slip on the final day of the season after spending most parts of it on the top of the league table.

The three new men in added to the technical area will seek to end Amakhosi’s five year wait for a trophy.

The Soweto giants club chairman Kaizer Motaung has assured the trio they will receive the support they will need to succeed at the club.

“The wealth of experience among the three gentlemen is what we need to ensure we compete and build a strong team.” Motaung said.

Club legend Doctor Khumalo is also linked with a return to Chiefs as we expect more changes in their technical team in the coming days.
