Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead a high-level dialogue on Friday, May 17, focusing on the accomplishments within the first year of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

This dialogue is a pivotal aspect of the Tinubu administration’s strategy to harness international cooperation in fulfilling the commitments outlined in the “Renewed Hope Agenda”.

Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), hinted that the vice president’s keynote address will establish the framework for discussions during the forum.

The address, titled “Delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda Through Enhanced International Cooperation: Imperatives, Opportunities, and Challenges,” will explore how international collaboration can drive Nigeria towards a future marked by strengthened partnerships.

According to Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), this dialogue isn’t merely ceremonial; it represents a strategic gathering of leaders and experts from government, international development circles, and civil society.

Nkwocha said the goal is to deliberate on advancing the achievements made in the first year of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Senator Hadejia explained that the discussion will evaluate the administration’s progress over the past year and areas where consolidation is needed.

He pointed out the administration’s focus on economic revitalisation, social empowerment, and infrastructural development within a rapidly evolving global context.

“We have embarked on this path of economic revitalisation, social empowerment and infrastructural development while navigating the complexities of a rapidly evolving global space,” he said.

“This introspective analysis will enable us to celebrate our successes, learn from our challenges and refine our strategies moving forward,” he added.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on International Cooperation, Dapo Oyewole, mentioned that the discussions will also centre on strengthening international partnerships to amplify the impact of the administration’s collective endeavours.

Key objectives of the dialogue include reviewing policy priorities and delivery mechanisms, identifying areas for enhanced international cooperation, and developing an Action Plan to leverage development financing and technical collaboration for accelerated progress towards the Renewed Hope Agenda’s goals.
