Shipment of Ebola Vaccine Arrive in Uganda For Trials

Uganda has received 1200 Ebola vaccine candidates from the World Health Organisation to be used in the Tokomeza Ebola vaccine trial.

The country has confirmed 142 cases, with 56 deaths, since it announced an outbreak of the Sudan strain of Ebola in September.

In a tweet, health ministry spokesman Emmanuel Ainebyoona said the consignment will be received from the World Health Organization representatives at a warehouse near the capital, Kampala.

The health minister is expected to announce the start date of trials.

Uganda has not registered any new positive Ebola cases in over three weeks, indicating that the outbreak might be under control.
