South African Premier Soccer League club Mamelodi Sundowns and striker Gaston Sirino have been found guilty and axed by the PSL’s Disciplinary Committee for bringing the game into disrepute and assault respectively.
The latest development comes after a lengthy investigation into the incident which was carried out by the League’s Judiciary arm.
Striker Sirino was found guilty of assaulting SuperSport United players, Clayton Daniels and Dean Furman in a game that was played in September 2019.
Sundowns were found guilty of bringing the league into disrepute and both player and club have been sanctioned.
Sundowns have been fined R200,000 out of which R150,000 is suspended for the next 24 months if they don’t repeat the same offence again.
Sirino was handed a two-match ban and a R75,000 fine of which R25,000 is suspended for the next 24 months.
Furthermore, Sundowns and Sirino will pay for several sittings of the PSL Disciplinary Committee.

The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee (DC) previously found Mamelodi Sundowns and their player Gastón Sirino guilty on several charges.
Mamelodi Sundowns were found guilty of bringing the League in disrepute while Gastón Sirino was found guilty of assaulting two SuperSport United players, Dean Furman and Clayton Daniels.
The DC has ruled that:
Mamelodi Sundowns is ordered to pay a fine R200 000 of which R150 000 is suspended for a period of 24 months on condition that they are not found guilty of a similar offence during the period of suspension.
Gastón Sirino is ordered to serve a two-match suspension.
Gastón Sirino is ordered to pay a fine of R75 000 of which R25 000 is suspended for a period of 24 months on condition that they are not found guilty of a similar offence during the period of suspension.
Both Mamelodi Sundowns and Gastón Sirino are ordered to pay the several sittings of the Disciplinary Committee.
Sirino has been Sundowns outstanding player so far this season, scoring eleven goals and making seven assists for the club in all competitions.
