Sisi Appoints Hassan Abdullah as Acting Governor of Central Bank (News Central TV)

Hassan Abdullah, the chairman of the board of directors of the United Company, was appointed by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as acting governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, CBE, succeeding Tariq Amer, whose resignation was accepted on Wednesday.

Amer was chosen by Sisi to serve as the president of the republic’s counsellor. The president of United Media Services is Hassan Abdullah.

He was born in 1960, attended the American University in Cairo, and graduated in 1982 with a degree in business administration.

Abdullah started working with the Arab African International Bank in Egypt in 1982 before moving to the New York branch of the bank in 1988. There, he was made assistant general manager in 1994 before being promoted to general manager in 1999, vice president, and managing director in 2000.

He was appointed Chairman of the Union of Arab and French Banks (UBAF) Board of Directors in Hong Kong and is a member of the UBAF Board of Directors in Paris.

He serves on the boards of the Central Bank of Egypt, Telecom Egypt, Endeavor Egypt, the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Egypt, the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and the Emerging Markets Advisory Council (EMAC).

He was a member of the Dean’s Strategic Advisory Board at the AUC School of Business at the American University in Cairo as well as a faculty member there.

He served as the president of the Small Business Investor Alliance (SBIA), a founding member of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council, and a trustee on the board of the Egyptian Banking Institute.

He earned a Master’s degree in business administration from the American University in Cairo in 1992 and a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Egyptian Banking Institute at the same institution in 1982.
