The Sokoto State Government has allocated N15 billion for the renovation of schools and the provision of vehicles for high court judges and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal.
The decision was made during a state executive council meeting and announced by various commissioners.
Alhaji Tukur Arkali, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, outlined the schools to be renovated.
Sheikh Gummi Memorial College will receive N788.2 million, Hafsatu Ahmadu Bello Model Arabic Secondary School N591.4 million, and Sokoto Science College N433.1 million.
Other schools, including Unity Secondary School in Bodinga and Sani Dingyadi Unity Secondary School, Farfaru, will receive N567.5 million and N374.6 million, respectively. Sultan Maccido Institute for Quran and General Studies will undergo renovations at a cost of N1.6 billion.
Two schools damaged by flooding in Illela—Government Girls Secondary School and Government Secondary School—will be renovated for N1.3 billion and N591.4 million, respectively.
Additionally, Government Girls College, Sokoto, and Ahmadu Bello Academy, Farfaru, will receive N710.6 million and N105.8 million for structural improvements.
The council also approved N250 million to renovate 25 staff quarters at Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic and N122 million for nine modern toilet facilities within the school.
To support judicial operations, the government will purchase 22 jeeps for high court judges and Sharia Court Khadis at a total cost of N2.4 billion.
Other projects include the construction of a race course in Durbawa for N531 million, upgrades to Rima FM Sokoto with a new transmitter and antenna repairs costing N926 million, and repairs to a generator for the Sokoto State Water Board at N80.85 million.
The announcements reflect the government’s plans to improve infrastructure and services across key sectors.
