The Sokoto State government has empowered one hundred women and youths with training in tailoring and other handicrafts aimed at fostering socioeconomic development within the state.
Conducted by the Ministry for Local Government and Community Development in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser on Community Development, the training initiative aligns with Governor Aliyu’s campaign promises, as highlighted by Commissioner Ibrahim Dadi-Adare during the graduation ceremony for the beneficiaries.
Dadi-Adare emphasised the fulfilment of the governor’s commitments, particularly regarding youth and women’s empowerment. He stated the significance of the graduation, illustrating the tangible steps taken to realise these promises.
“The ministry today is graduating 100 youth and women in to tailoring and other hand works,” Dadi-Adare stated, noting the transformative potential of such initiatives in society. He emphasised the expectation that the skills acquired would contribute to the overall socioeconomic advancement of the state, fostering self-reliance and empowerment among the beneficiaries.
As part of the empowerment package, the graduates received a set of tailor machines and a cash sum of N20,000 to facilitate the commencement of their businesses. Dadi-Adare reiterated the government’s commitment, assuring continued efforts under Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration to deliver more dividends of democracy.
Addressing the gathering, Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment, Alhaji Garba Kebbe, hailed the initiative as a key component of Governor Aliyu’s 9-Point Smart Agenda. He lauded the timely release of funds for programme implementation and urged ongoing support and cooperation from the people of the state.
The Special Adviser reassured citizens of ongoing efforts towards sustainable development, emphasising the administration’s dedication to advancing the welfare and prosperity of Sokoto State.
