Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, promised residents better security and faster development in 2025.
He did this while sincerely congratulating and greeting every citizen on the celebration of the New Year’s daybreak.
The signing into law of the 2025 appropriation bill of N606.99 billion is a major step in the administration’s efforts to create a smart megacity that is both livable and prosperous, according to a press statement released by his press secretary, Christian Aburime, on Wednesday.
“The comprehensive 2025 Anambra State budget reflects Soludo’s unwavering dedication to transforming Anambra State through strategic investments in critical sectors,” the statement said in part.
“The emphasis is still on economic transformation, human capital development, and infrastructure development, with significant funding going towards, among other things, road construction, healthcare, and education.
“Operation Udo Ga Chi (Operation Peace Shall Reign) will be launched by the state government after January 25 as part of its unwavering commitment to enhancing and fortifying the security of Ndi Anambra’s lives and property.
“Through this programme, more than 200 security cars will be stationed throughout the state to conduct improved stop-and-search and surveillance activities. In parallel, the government is enhancing forest security by providing specialised training to forest guards and coordinating with local vigilantes and government officials.
“The governor offered an amnesty window until the end of February 2025 to state criminal elements who have repented, further addressing security issues with a balanced carrot-and-stick strategy.
“The state government of Anambra State urges all parties involved, especially the political elite, to uphold decorum and peace during the election process as it begins this year.
“To create an atmosphere that supports holistic growth, our state’s future rests on our all-out, selfless dedication to maintaining peace and order during this time.
“All things considered, Soludo calls on all members of Ndi Anambra to work with the government to create the dreamed wealthy smart mega metropolis and reiterates his commitment to keeping the promises made in the 2025 budget.
“He prays that all citizens of Anambra State experience peace, advancement, and prosperity in the New Year,” the statement added.
