Somalia’s Minister of Information, Daud Aweys said that the troops in Somalia in a well co-ordinated mission with aerial support dealt a severe blow at the Al-Shabaab terrorists targeting their hideouts in Galmudug over the weekend.
The minister made this known in a press conference Sunday, adding that the SNA retook control of Huldoonyaale, Galhare, Badaweyne, Qeycad,Eelgaras city, Amara, Qodqod,Shabeelow, Sardo and Xinlabi in the Mudug region.
He said the operation led to the elimination of over 30 Al-Shabaab members in the southern Mudug region, where the Galmudug leader was attacked on Friday.
According to the minister, another operation that took place in Awbaale and Eid in the Mahaday district hit 200 Al-Shabaab planning attacks against military units in Somalia.
Al-Shabaab makes money from running salt mines in Mudug, central Somalia.
The Somali army overrun Xinlabi which straddles a vast salt pan this week destroying a lucrative source of revenue for the militants.

The minister said that the miscreants were targeted in their hideouts where he said they were slaughtered and their bodies were scattered.
Aweys said the government will continue to fight Al-Shabaab until the final victory.
