Two suicide explosions in Beledweyne, central Somalia, killed at least 15 persons, including a female member of parliament in the country.
Amina Mohamed Abdi was assassinated, according to Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has issued a condolence message on Twitter.
Former MP Hassan Dhuhul and Somali soldiers were among the other victims.
According to local media estimates, the death toll could be far higher.
The suicide blasts in Beledweyne came just hours after al-Qaeda-allied terrorists attacked the Halane Camp, a fortified airport complex that includes UN offices and foreign embassies, killing at least eight people, including five foreign nationals.
Al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the Mogadishu and central Beledweyne bombings.
