President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia arrived in Asmara on Thursday afternoon for a four-day official visit at the request of President Isaias Afwerki.
President Isaias Afwerki gave President Hassan Sheik Mohamud a warm welcome when he arrived at the Asmara International Airport.
Abshir Omar Huruse, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, is a member of the senior Somali delegation.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Osman Saleh and Presidential Advisor Yemane Gebreab also attended the welcoming ceremony.
On the request of President Isaias Afwerki, President Hassan Sheik Mohamud paid an official visit to Eritrea on July 9.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Kenya has donated a planeload of urgently needed relief supplies to neighboring Somalia. The package contained numerous pharmaceuticals and food supplies.
The humanitarian aid was in response to the bombings that occurred in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, two weeks ago, in which 120 civilians lost their lives.
