A collaborative venture by Sony Group and Honda Motors, known as Sony Honda Mobility, have disclosed their ambitious strategy to introduce a trio of cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) models in the latter half of this decade. This revelation stems from reports circulating in the Nikkei business daily.
This venture, strategically crafted to infiltrate the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market, is poised to unveil a diverse array of EVs, including a dynamic sports utility vehicle (SUV) projected for a 2027 debut, followed closely by a compact model anticipated to hit the market in 2028 or beyond.
Antecedent to these impending launches, the venture has charted its course to unveil a sedan in 2025, with aspirations to carve out a formidable niche against industry stalwart Tesla. Curiously, the Nikkei opted not to disclose the origins of this intelligence.
A spokesperson representing Sony Honda Mobility has underscored their unwavering dedication to exploring innovative product lineups yet remained reticent about divulging further particulars beyond what has been officially unveiled thus far.
It’s worth noting that Sony Honda Mobility had previously made waves with its proclamation to enter the EV domain back in January 2023. At that time, they had outlined plans to introduce a sedan christened “Afeela” by the culmination of 2025, with deliveries slated to commence in early 2026, initially targeting the North American market.
This collaborative synergy between Sony and Honda, forged in 2022, harmoniously melds Honda’s extensive reservoir of expertise in vehicle engineering and manufacturing with Sony’s formidable prowess in software development and gaming technology.
