President Cyril Ramaphosa and his Angolan counterpart, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, met today at the Union Buildings in Pretoria to begin high-level discussions aimed at enhancing relations between South Africa and Angola.
The State Visit reflects the growing partnership between the two nations, with both leaders focused on fostering closer cooperation in areas such as trade, regional security, and development.
The official welcoming ceremony featured the display of South African and Angolan flags, a guard of honour, and a 21-gun salute, highlighting the importance of the occasion.
The leaders, joined by delegations from their governments, are set to discuss initiatives to strengthen trade, address shared regional challenges, and promote prosperity across Southern Africa.
During the meeting, the two presidents are expected to explore key areas of discussion, such as trade and investment, regional stability, infrastructure development, cultural and educational ties, amongst others.
South Africa and Angola have a shared history of solidarity stemming from their liberation struggles against apartheid and colonial rule.
