South Africa: Court Postpones Zwane’s Estina Dairy Farm Case

The High Court in Bloemfontein has postponed the Estina Dairy farm case against a former Free State Agriculture MEC, Mosebenzi Zwane to January 25, 2023.

The multi-million-rand Estina Dairy Farm Scandal implicates Zwane and others who are being charged for fraud, corruption and money laundering.

Companies and more people, including the former department heads Seipati Dlamini and Peter Thabethe have been added to the list of those who are charged. The case also implicates a Gupta associate.

While testifying at the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture in May last year, Zwane agreed that the Estina dairy farm project was poorly handled.

Zwane had earlier rejected claims that beneficiaries of the project were sidelined.

About 82 beneficiaries earlier testified that the department made numerous promises but these were not realised.

However, the project, which started in 2012, saw about R200 million of department money wired to a Gupta-linked company, Estina.
