South Africa: Thousands Gather for EFF's Final Rally Ahead of Key Election

A crowd of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) supporters convened at a Polokwane stadium in South Africa, responding to the party’s concluding election rally.

With the conclusion of campaigns by the four principal political parties in South Africa, the nation braces for a pivotal moment as it approaches the upcoming election, marking a significant juncture after three decades.

Julius Malema, the leader of the EFF, conveyed appreciation to his supporters for their steadfastness and contribution to the success of the campaign.

“I am here to conclude the campaign of the EFF. I am here to say to you, we have run a good race. We are here today because we ran a very successful campaign. The ground forces of the EFF have made everybody aware that there is a child called the EFF, who must be allowed to lead.”

“Now, the people of South Africa must decide if they want unemployment. They must decide if they want load-shedding. They must decide if they want to remain landless. The people of South Africa, it is now in your hands. We live here very proud that we did everything to make our generation very proud.”

In South Africa, citizens grapple with widespread poverty and unemployment, currently standing at 32%, the highest recorded globally. Over half of the population languishes in abject poverty.

The electoral process commenced with special voting on Friday, May 17, conducted at nine South African missions abroad. Subsequently, the main election is scheduled for May 29, spanning all provinces.
