The Muslim community at Nizamiye Mosque in Midrand, South Africa—one of the largest mosques in Southern Africa—celebrated Eid al-Fitr on Monday, marking the conclusion of Ramadan.
The United Ulama Council of South Africa confirmed that the crescent moon signaling the end of the holy month was sighted on Sunday, officially ushering in Eid.
The day’s observances began with the Fajr prayer at dawn, followed by a large gathering at the Eidgah, where hundreds of worshippers came together to perform the special two-unit Eid prayer.
