According to his spokesperson Vincent Magwenya, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will reveal changes to his cabinet today at 19:00 (17:00 GMT).
After Mr. Ramaphosa was re-elected as the head of the African National Congress (ANC), the party in power, in December, the changes in cabinet were generally anticipated. It made it possible for him to run for president a second time in the upcoming polls.
Following David Mabuza’s resignation, Mr. Ramaphosa is anticipated to appoint a new deputy president. The newly appointed ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile is generally anticipated to fill the position.
As the nation struggles with a power crisis, Mr. Ramaphosa is also anticipated to fill the newly formed post of electricity minister.
