Following his defeat in the State Houses of Assembly poll on Saturday, Dr. Uchenna Okafor, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, lost his bid for reelection to the seat representing the Ayamelum Constituency.
Hon. Uchenna Okafor, the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, lost his quest for a third term to Hon. Abuchi Bernard Udemezue, the PDP candidate for the Ayamelum State Constituency.
Professor George Onwudiwe, the election’s returning officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), reported that the PDP received 12,993 votes to beat Okafor of the APGA, who received 11,445 votes, and others.
The nominee of the Labour Party (LP), Hon. Mazi Paul Obu, defeated Hon. Emeka Aforka, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly and APGA candidate for Orumba North.
In contrast to Aforka’s 7,675 ballots, Obu received 10,212 votes.
Additionally, Hon. John Nwokoye, a PDP candidate and member of Awka North, fell to Hon. Chimezie Ikwunne, an APGA candidate and newcomer.
