Hundreds of aviation enthusiasts braved the cold weather to enjoy a spectacular display of aircraft and cutting-edge aviation technologies at the Africa Aerospace and Defence Trade and Exhibition 2024.
Held at Waterkloof Airbase in Pretoria, this annual air show is one of the largest aviation events in the world. The event attracted aviation experts, companies, and fans from across the globe, with the South African Air Force leading the way in showcasing its aircraft and allowing pilots to demonstrate their skills.
Charl Wentzel, an aviation enthusiast, praised South Africa’s contributions to the field, calling the event “top class and really worthwhile.” His son, De Waal Wentzel, expressed excitement at the chance to get up close to the aircraft, a unique experience compared to viewing them in the air or through video game simulations. He eagerly stood in line in the freezing cold to sit in the cockpit of an aircraft.
Among the attendees was South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who also visited the show this week.
