Squid Game Becomes First Non-English Language Emmy Nominee (News Central TV)

Netflix series Squid Game has become the first non-English language Emmy nominee. The South Korean survival drama has been nominated in the prestigious category of Outstanding Drama Series for the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards.


Squid Game lead star Lee Jung-Jae also got a nod in the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series category. He is up against “Succession” stars Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong, alongside Adam Scott and Bob Odenkirk, in the category.

Sky Atlantic’s “Succession” leads this year’s Emmy nominations of any show with a total of 25 nods, including one for outstanding drama, while “Ted Lasso” leads the comedy category, earning 20 nominations, including one for outstanding comedy series. The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place in Los Angeles, USA, on September 12, 2022.
