The much anticipated All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention held Saturday 26th March, 2022 at the Eagles Square in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
What ensued prior to the commencement of the event was unexpected, as the security operatives seemingly became overwhelmed by the large number of people present and eager to go into the venue.
First, it so happened that the party and its officials were having quite a difficult time controlling the anxious crowd. Also, allowing accredited persons, such as delegates and the press, into the venue of the convention by the party and its officials, became another thug of war.
After a while, the security operatives lost their patience and became aggressive, resorting to manhandling of delegates, journalists and others.
They literally teargassed every person waiting to go in, causing a stampede to ensue. A lot of persons were injured, while others lost their items such as mobile phones, amongst others.
