Starlink Establishes First Physical Office in Africa, Choosing Kenya as Base

While Starlink, the satellite internet company, initiated its African service in Nigeria, the company has opted to set up its first physical office on the continent in Kenya.

SpaceX, the parent company of Starlink, recently posted a job opening for the position of Global Licencing Activation Manager, sub-Saharan Africa. The selected individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of countries and facilitating internal and external interactions to secure licencing for Starlink as an Internet service provider. This strategic move aims to enable Starlink to expand its services to more regions, serving both individuals and enterprises globally shortly.

The company specified that the role would be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with the position reporting to the team located at Starlink’s MacGregor, TX location.

Starlink made its debut in Africa by launching its services in Nigeria, as announced in a tweet in January. The tweet read, “Starlink is now available in Nigeria, the first African country to receive service.” Subsequently, Starlink expanded its services to other African countries, including Kenya, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, and Eswatini.
