Two people died and 66 were injured when a tropical storm made landfall in Mozambique on Monday, the country’s disaster institute said.
In a statement, the National Institute for Management and Disaster Risk Reduction reported that tropical storm Ana caused partial destruction to 546 homes and complete destruction to 115 others.
According to the report, six provinces were affected: Nampula, Zambezia, Tete, Niassa, Sofala, and Manica.
The recent storms and cyclones in Mozambique have destroyed infrastructure and forced many people to flee.
Storms have become more intense as ocean temperatures have risen due to climate change while rising sea levels make low-lying coastal areas vulnerable.
More than 1,000 people were killed in Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe by Cyclone Idai and flooding that followed.
