Sudan’s army chief, Abdel Fattah Al Burhan, has expressed support for Türkiye’s efforts to mediate a resolution to the 20-month-long Sudan conflict between his forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
During a meeting in Port Sudan, Al Burhan conveyed his endorsement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s initiative to Türkiye’s Deputy Foreign Minister.
The United Arab Emirates recently praised Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts, which aim to end a war that has claimed tens of thousands of lives, displaced 12 million people, and brought Sudan to the brink of famine. Experts warn that external involvement may exacerbate the crisis.
