Super Eagles medical staff have cleared Victor Osimhen for Wednesday’s semi-final clash against South Africa.
News Central reported that the Super Eagles travelled on Monday evening from Abidjan to Bouaké without star striker Victor Osimhen as a result of abdominal discomfort.
With his clean bill, Osimhen is expected to head straight into the Super Eagles starting XI for the match.
Jose Peseiro will likely stick to his winning formula, which means Osimhen would be buoyed in attack by top scorer Ademola Lookman and Simon Moses.
The team’s media officer, Babafemi Raji, who confirmed the incident, said the team doctors had placed him under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him.
According to sources in Abidjan, Victor will join his teammates in Bouake after being declared fit and is expected to feature in the game.
The Napoli striker has been an important part of the Eagles’ superb AFCON run so far starting all five matches in Côte d’Ivoire, scoring one goal and setting up Ademola Lookman against Cameroon.
With the 3-4-3 formation Peseiro has Calvin Bassey, William Troost-Ekong, and Semi Ajayi shielding Nwabali in defence.
Zaidu Sanusi and Ola Aina will occupy the flanks, while Alex Iwobi and Frank Onyeka will navigate the midfield. The match is expected to kick off at 6pm WAT.
