Opta, a British sports analytics company, ranks Super Eagles forward Moses Simon as the fourth best dribbler in Europe’s top five divisions.
According to a recent Ligue 1 X Twitter post citing OptaJose, the Nigerian is only outperformed by Barcelona wonderkid Yamine Lamal, Manchester City’s Jeremy Doku, and Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane.
Simon is in his fourth season with Nantes and has been one of the club’s most significant players, leading them to the Coupe de France title in 2022 and helping the French club win their first trophy.
The 28-year-old has been the club’s primary outlet in the final third, and his physicality and one-on-one skill are critical aspects of his game. A recent Opta statistic emphasises this.
Opta ranks Simon as the fourth-best dribbler in Europe’s top five leagues. He has a dribble completion rate of 55.1 percent, trailing only Yamal (59.7 percent), Doku (58.6 percent), and Sané (55.5%).
With Yamal in the Spanish league, Doku in the English Premier League, and Sane in the German Bundesliga, the Nigerian is the top dribbler in the French League, ahead of Kylian Mbappe, Jonathan David, Takumi Minamino, and teammates Terem Moffi and Akor Adams.
So far this season, the Super Eagles player has three goals and five assists in 18 Ligue 1 games for Nantes, who are presently 14th in the French top flight, three points above the relegation spot.
