Sunusi Ibrahim, a striker for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has sponsored 110 beneficiaries into the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) for a one-year period through his SI14 Foundation.
Sunusi Ibrahim distributed NASHIA identification cards to the beneficiaries in the Keffi Local Government Area on Tuesday, providing them with access to free healthcare services.
The gesture aims to alleviate the hardships faced by members of the public in accessing healthcare services. The 110 beneficiaries include the elderly, people with disabilities, children under the age of five, pregnant women, widows, and vulnerable individuals in the electoral wards of Keffi.
Sunusi Ibrahim expressed his commitment to work closely with NASHIA to raise awareness about the importance of health insurance and enrol more residents in the scheme. He emphasised that supporting the enrollment of individuals in the Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency is a noble way to give back to the community.
Dr. Yahaya Ubam, the Executive Secretary of NASHIA, commended Ibrahim for his gesture, particularly for providing for the less privileged. He praised the footballer for contributing to the healthcare of the community and expressed gratitude for the support from well-meaning Nigerians.
One of the beneficiaries, Nwosu Benedict, expressed happiness with the initiative, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the community’s access to healthcare services. He encouraged more Nigerians to emulate the steps taken by the footballer to contribute to the well-being of the country.
