African champions Nigeria suffered a 3-0 defeat to hosts China in their first match at a Four-Nation tournament in Miezhou.

The competition which serves as a warm up for FIFA Women’s World Cup in France this summer started on a disappointing not for the Falcons as they fell behind after only 10 minutes. Further goals in the 65th and 92nd minutes condemned the nine-time African champions to defeat at the Huitang Stadium.

Nigeria will now take on Romania, who lost by the same margin to Korea Republic earlier in Sunday’s third place match also at the Huitang Stadium.
