Michael Usifo Ataga was the founder and CEO of Super TV, a streaming entertainment platform that provides movies, shows, news, and documentaries, established in April 2014. Until his death, he was the Director of Super Network Limited, a telecommunications firm based in Nigeria, West Africa.
Usifo Ataga’s net worth is believed to be around $650,000. He made most of his money as an entrepreneur as he created Super TV. His wife who is in the Oil and Gas industry makes a substantial amount too.
The businessman who hails from Edo State and was born on June 19, 1971, was allegedly murdered by his ‘side chic’, at an apartment in Lekki Phase 1 on June 17, 2021, a few days to his 50th birthday.
The University of Benin graduate (1988-1995) was married to Brenda Ataga Usifo, but according to reports, their marriage has not been a happy one and they have been separated and living apart for 5 years. While Brenda lives in Abuja, Michael lived in their Banana Island home in Lagos, sources say.
Brenda Ataga who could be in her mid-40s hails from Auchi, Edo State. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos, a Master’s in Business Management from Lincoln University, US, and a Masters of Law from the University of Salford, UK. Like her late husband, she has a very successful career and is a multi-millionaire. She is a mid downstream commercial strategist in the oil and gas industry and has over 15 years of experience under her belt. She is the first female and first under-30 to serve as the supply manager of Oandoo PLC, and a 2018 nominee of the Prestigious Archbishop Dr. Tutu Fellowship.
She currently serves as the National Project Coordinator of the LPG expansion program under the Present Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva.
Brenda who is interested in humanitarian works runs a Non-profit organization through a Foundation that’s focused on training internally displaced youths and women.
The couple is said to have been married for over 12 years and have 2 daughters together.
A theory suggests that Brenda Ataga cheated on her late husband, and connived with her boyfriend, one Mr. Izu and Chidinma, “the killer side-chic”, in a bid to end her marriage with the deceased. Reacting to this report by an online platform, the wife of the slain Super TV CEO, has asked the management of the blog to pull down the report from the website and retract the damaging report through its medium and other online news outlets. Describing the report as callous, malicious and a mindless attack, she also demanded a sum of N1 billion as compensation for the publication of libelous and malicious reports against her person.
Ataga, who resides in Banana Island, was reported missing on Sunday, June 13, by his family and friends after he did not return to his home in Banana Island and also did not turn up at his Victoria Island office.
All efforts to reach him proved abortive and this caused distress to his wife and children, who live in Abuja. Unfortunately, his lifeless body was found on Friday morning, June 18, in a flat in Lekki phase 1 with multiple stab wounds. Several withdrawals had been made from his account by then.
A 21-year-old student of the University of Lagos, Chidinma Ojukwu, has been arrested and paraded for the alleged murder. Speaking with journalists, the 300-level student of Mass Communication, said she had been in a romantic relationship with Ataga for about four months. According to her, they were “having fun” when an argument broke out and she stabbed him twice. She also disclosed that she withdrew N380,000 from his account using his ATM card.
In a new turn of events, Chidinma has denied killing Ataga, contrary to her earlier claims when she was initially paraded by the police. In an eight-minute video where she looked well dressed and polished (not typical of a murder suspect in detention), she said Ataga was already killed before she got to the apartment and that she met him dead and did not know who killed him.
But Muyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson of the Lagos police command, described the video as fake!
