A man has been arrested after forcibly entering the Moroccan embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, where he smashed windows and hung a rainbow flag from one of the windows, according to police reports.
Swedish police responded to the scene, where they detained the man, who had barricaded himself inside a room. The Aftonbladet newspaper reported that the suspect was armed with a knife at the time of the break-in.
Authorities have not yet determined the man’s motive. The suspect, who remains unidentified, is being investigated for several offences, including breaking and entering, aggravated vandalism, and causing bodily harm. The latter charge stems from an incident where broken glass from a window fell onto a passerby in the street. Police confirmed that the person was not seriously injured and had chosen to seek medical attention independently.
The Moroccan embassy has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident.
