A roadside bomb in southern Somalia has killed more than ten Kenyan soldiers in an attack attributed to the Al-Shabaab group.

Five people were critically injured after their car collided with an improvised explosive device near the Kenya-Somalia border in the Gedo region.

The names of the slain soldiers have not been released, but a former Kenyan presidential candidate claimed on Twitter that his younger brother was one of the victims.

The troops who died were members of the African Union Mission in Somalia, a peacekeeping force that was sent to the country to assist the federal government in combating Al-Shabaab insurgents.

Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate, has carried out similar attacks on civilians and security personnel convoys.

Militant attacks on public locations, government installations, and security checkpoints have increased in Kenya in recent months.

Recall, on Monday, News Central reported that over 200 Al-shabaab militants were killed in targeted US drone attacks.
