Defending champion, Iga Swiatek continued her quest for a fourth French Open title as she swept aside former runner-up Marketa Vondrousova 6-0 6-2 on Tuesday to reach the semi-finals.
Swiatek wasted little time out of the blocks as she built a 5-0 lead over the fifth seed Wimbledon champion Vondrousova and wrapped up the opening set when the Czech player hit a ball long.
It was the top seed’s third bagel in a row after she annihilated Russian Anastasia Potapova in the fourth round. Such was the intensity of her game that her opponent looked overwhelmed for most of the match.
The Czech cut a forlorn figure but eventually got on board in the second set following a rare Swiatek error and earned a breakpoint in the next game, but it was futile in stopping the Pole from extending her winning run-on clay to 17 matches.
The 23-year-old has setup a mouth-watering semi-final clash with American Coco Gauff in a repeat of the 2022 final.
Gauff rallied to earn a superb come-back win over Ons Jabeur in the other quarterfinal.
