Heavy rainfall has caused the Dodoma-Morogoro Highway to become impassable, leaving travelers and goods stranded.
The road, which connects Tanzania’s capital, Dodoma to other parts of the South, was flooded and officials were forced to stop traffic flow.
Residents of Kihonda have been asked to leave their homes. The area has been most affected by the flooding.
Some homes have been flooded and the District Commissioner, Albert Msando, has arrived on the scene with the Fire and Rescue Police to make an instant assessment of the damage. No fatalities have been reported so far.
