The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says that bulk power supply has been restored through its 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1 as of 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday, following the completion of repairs to the vandalised section of the line.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah on Wednesday.

“With its restoration, the Apir-Lafia 330kV gearbox line 2 is currently operating. Bulk power transmission has also been restored in Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe states.

“As restoration efforts continue, the TCN engineering team is preparing to start work on the second 330kV transmission line.” All essential materials for the repairs are on hand, and work will begin as soon as the location is secured to protect the safety of our people working on the vandalised sections of 330kV transmission line two’, the statement said in part.

It further stated that teams of linesmen would re-patrol 330 kV line 2 to ensure that no other portions are disrupted as repair work continues.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as our engineers work to reconnect the 330kV gearbox line 2. TCN acknowledges the importance of electricity in our everyday life and is dedicated to restore this line as soon as possible, hence improving bulk power supplies to the areas affected by the incident’, the statement continued.

The northern region has been without power for almost a week, allegedly caused by the tripping of the 330kV circuit transmission line between Benue and Enugu.

The transmission line between Shiroro and Kaduna was also disrupted, affecting electricity supplies in Kano, Gombe, Kebbi, Jos, Kaduna, Benue, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Yobe.
