Leicester City’s 15-year-old forward, Jeremy Monga, made headlines during his Premier League debut on Monday—not just for his age, but for his shirt.
The teenager, who became the second-youngest player in Premier League history, wore a blank jersey because the club’s regular kit features sponsorship from a cryptocurrency gambling platform.

Under the UK’s Gambling Act 2005, updated in 2020, players under the age of 18 are prohibited from wearing kits with gambling-related sponsors. As a result, Monga had to don a modified shirt for his historic appearance against Newcastle United, a match that ended in a 3-0 defeat for Leicester.
At just 15 years and 271 days old, Monga’s debut places him just behind Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri, who remains the youngest-ever Premier League player, having debuted at 15 years and 181 days.
The loss marks Leicester’s eighth consecutive league match without scoring, leaving them 19th in the table and 15 points adrift of safety.
