Nigerian Singer Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Tems, has been nominated for an MTV Video Music Awards 2022.
Tems, a Grammy-winning musician and singer, has been nominated for the MTV Video Music Awards 2022 as a result of her important involvement in Future and Drake’s successful song collaboration as well as the nomination of her song “Wait For U” in the Best Hip Hop category.
She has received honors from BET, Billboard, and most recently MTV.
The list of candidates, which was released today, Tuesday, July 26, 2022, featured only the brilliant vocalist as the only Nigerian artist nominated for any of the prizes.
Along with Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, and numerous more, the singer is nominated for a Grammy.
Tems would have the chance to add another achievement to her resume at the award ceremony, which would take place on August 29, 2022, on her route to establishing global dominance.
Recall that in June, Temsm became the first African woman to win the Best International Act award at the BET. Tems came to bigger prominence when she was featured on Wizkid’s global hit single Essence.
Tems defeated one full Nigerian,Fireboy and two British-Nigerians, Dave and Little Simz who are UK artistes to win the award.
