The Peoples Democratic Party has selected Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as its deputy candidate for governor of Lagos State.

On Tuesday, the actress declared in a video posted to her verified Instagram page that she was running for deputy governor.

She had now been selected to serve as Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, the PDP candidate for governor of Lagos State.

She explained why she decided to run as a running mate in the video she posted on Tuesday.

1. Her Birth

Nigeria’s Lagos State, Ikorodu, is home to Funke Akindele’s birthplace. She is the middle kid of three (a boy and two girls). Her mother is a doctor, and Funke’s father is a retired school principal.

Though it wasn’t immediately evident why, a few weeks later her name was changed to co-actress Genevieve Nnaji.

Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Senate President and Chairman of the National Assembly, encouraged Marvel Studios to include Akindele in Infinity War in February 2018.

“Your Excellency,” a 2019 political drama film, marked Jenifa’s directorial debut.

8. The creator of Jenifa’s foundation and owner of numerous endorsement deals is Funke Akindele.

She is the founder of the non-governmental organization Jenifa’s Foundation, which supports and aids in young people’s discovery of their skills in acting, singing, and dancing.

She has numerous endorsement contracts with various companies. Vitafoam, Iroko TV, the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service, Eastern Lotto, and the sports betting company 1960 Bet are just a handful of these brands.

After violating the lockout order, the actress and her spouse received a 14-day community service sentence.

Recently, Cassandra, a former employee of the actress, called her out on social media.

Cassandra alleged that Funke doesn’t treat her employees like people because they are forced to work under fear and coercion.

However, following the accusation made against his employer, Funke Akindele, Tobi Makinde, better known as “Timini” in the well-known sitcom Jenifa’s diary, has defended her.
