A beach that stretches for 250 metres and is part of Trafalgar’s Mpenjati Nature Reserve. It lies on the south coast, which the local government designated as the nudist beach in late 2014, beginning with the official opening.
This is a brief section of the hibiscus coast’s Trafalgar beach, located around 140 kilometres south of Durban. The first and only authorised nudist beach in South Africa is located here in KwaZulu-Natal.
There were issues with the Mpanjeti beach’s opening. The municipality’s decision led to months of inquiries, appeals, and negative publicity.
Sandy Bay Nude Beach
Africa’s Sandy Bay is a stunning, undeveloped nudist beach. There is less congestion. The majority of visitors to the Nude Beach are beach enthusiasts who value the company of both nudists and non-nudists in nature.
Unfortunately, some individuals struggle with self-control and smear the image of the family beach by keeping their belongings outside. However, this only occurs during slow seasons when there are few beachgoers.
Since there are no stores or businesses on the beach, make sure to carry everything you need. Particularly the water, as the tour can be quite exhausting for first-timers.

Lovely beachfront neighborhood close to Durban. About one kilometre north of the boardwalk’s terminus along a lovely beach surrounded by a natural forest nature reserve, there is naked bathing allowed close to the lagoon in the direction of Umdloti. Apart from the fact that everyone there is visiting to enjoy the beach, staring or looking at others is considered rude. And no sexual behaviour of any kind is allowed on a nude beach in Africa.
Other Codes Of Conduct comes straight from the International Naturist Federation, they include:
1.) No photography allowed unless it is of yourself or your own group of friends and everybody agrees explicitly.
2.) Always take a towel and do not use other people’s chairs without it. You are on a nude beach in Africa remember?
3.) Remember that public exposure in a nude beach in Africa is illegal, so be sure to only strip down on designated nudist beaches.
4.) Always keep your clothes and other belongings in your sight, as you do in all beaches and public places.
5.) Males who experience unexpected erections must cover themselves up.
6.) Rude comments are forbidden, as are obscene or offensive language, racism, sexism, homophobia or sexual or erotic material.
7.) If you decide to go on a nude beach in Africa, please make sure you are of age.
8.) Take enough sunscreen. There are some places you just don’t want to burn!
9.) Only go if you feel comfortable, and are comfortable with others around you being nude.
10.) No suggestive behaviour in a nude beach in Africa (one news article put it this way: “swaying of hips is allowed, but pole dancing wouldn’t be if you get our point.”; you must always take a towel with you to the beach (probably to cover any unpredictable ‘reactions’, which are also not allowed).
