British born professional boxer, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua OBE will attempt to reclaim his unified world heavyweight champion title from Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on August 20,2022.

Ahead of the title rematch, here are 10 things to know about Joshua.

Date of Birth: He was born on October 15, 1989.

Place of Birth: Watford, Hertfordshire, UK.

Origin: Anthony Joshua’s mother is Nigerian, and his father is of Nigerian and Irish ancestry.

Early Years: Joshua spent some of his early years in Nigeria as a boarding school student at Mayflower School in Ikenne. When his parents separated at age twelve, he relocated to England with his mother during his seventh grade.

Growing Up: AJ used to be a bricklayer on various construction sites.

Amateur Career:  Joshua began boxing in 2007, aged 18, after his cousin suggested the sport to him.

Olympics: The British born Nigerian is an Olympic Gold medallist. He won the gold medal in the super heavyweight category at the London Olympics in 2012.

Professional Boxing: In July, 2013, Joshua started earning money for taking part in professional matches.

First Title: AJ picked his first heavyweight title in 2016, after defeating Martin via a second-round knockout (KO) to claim the IBF heavyweight championship.

Record: His professional boxing record includes 24 wins and 2 losses in 26 fights.
