Spanish tennis player, Rafael Nadal, has announced his decision to retire from professional tennis, marking the end of an illustrious career that has captivated fans around the world.
The 38-year-old Tennis icon, who has won an impressive 22 Grand Slam titles, including a record 14 at the French Open, posted an emotional video on social media on Thursday morning.
In the video, Nadal reflected on his remarkable career, which he described as “longer and more successful than I could ever have imagined.”
“Hello everyone. I’m here to let you know that I am retiring from professional tennis.
“The reality is that it has been some difficult years, the last two especially.
“I don’t think I have been able to play without limitations,” Nadal shared.
Nadal, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in tennis history, confirmed that he will make his final appearance for Spain at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga this November.
