Kaduna state residents have been thrown into pandemonium as Police operatives and the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), otherwise known as Shiites, are presently engaging in a gun duel.
Reports say the conflict started when the police tried to disperse a group of Shiites holding a procession at Katsina roundabout by Ahmadu Bello Way on Friday.
The police in Kaduna had maintained that the gathering was not approved by the Federal Government and thus, unlawful.
The Kaduna State Police Command Spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan alleged that some members of the group were caught in possession of dangerous weapons, which they used to launch attacks on innocent residents.
The situation has left the atmosphere in Kaduna tensed, and some residents residing or doing business within the location have scampered away for safety.
