Terrorists Abduct 10 Schoolchildren in Northwest Nigeria

Bandits in Nigeria's Zamfara State Lock Up Guards, Abduct Two Female Students

Armed men stormed a secondary school in Kaduna state, North-west Nigeria, and abducted at least 10 students.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement on Tuesday.

Aruwan said the students were abducted from a government Day secondary school in Awon area were seized on Monday.

There’s been a marked reduction in the spate of attacks as most of the hideouts of bandits and gangs have been pounded. In 2021, hundreds of students were kidnapped for ransom from various schools and colleges including a private university along Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

Last year the Nigerian government introduced new currency notes and limited cash withdrawals partly to try to stem the kidnapping for ransom attacks.
