According to new details revealed by security sources, two perpetrators involved in the terrorist attack in Moscow, Russia, which claimed the lives of 139 individuals, had been residing in Moscow for an extended period and had been intermittently visiting Turkey to extend their residency permits.
The attackers, identified as Tajik nationals, utilised Turkey for brief visits to reset their visa-free stays, as options for extending their residence in Russia became limited due to the aftermath of the Russia-Ukraine War and ensuing embargoes.
A Turkish official noted, “They briefly visited Turkiye to reset their visa-free stay and chose it due to its proximity to Russia.”
Despite lacking any prior search records, the attackers were able to travel between Turkey and Russia using their passports without encountering obstacles.
