Terrorists Kill 28 in Niger Republic’s Diffa Region

Boko Haram terrorists over the weekend killed at least 28 people in Toumour Village, Diffa region of Niger Republic.

The terrorists attacked in the early hours of Sunday, with not less than 70 of them shooting sporadically at locals and refugees.

At least 800 houses were razed during the attack and many have been rendered homeless, with vehicles also destroyed in the attack.

The region, which borders Nigeria has been facing terrorists attacks since 2015. At least 20,000 people have died since then and more than 2 million people have been displaced.

Niger Republic and the Northeastern part of Nigeria have been faced with heavy security upheavals for many years now, with no clearcut solutions in sight.

Sunday’s attacks were just before local elections in the Diffa region.

A local official described it as an attack of “unprecedented savagery” that has left at least 60% of the village destroyed.

Recall that Boko Haram terrorists killed more than 70 rice farmers in Zabarmari, Borno, northeast Nigeria.
